My Experience...
Day One of the trip to Kota Kinabalu started off on a good note – we were given front row seats in economy class, which were really spacious and comfortable with plenty of room to stretch my legs even though I’m short! The crew was friendly and attentive and the pilot even congratulated my mum and me on winning the trip, which was a nice touch ! When we arrived at the hotel room, we were greeted by a breath-taking view of the sea and comfortable beds. However we didn’t linger too long! After setting down our bags and looking through the maps and hotel guides, we explored the hotel grounds and the beach (more about that later!!) before taking the shuttle bus provided by the hotel to the major shopping centres in the city. While there was nothing to buy, we relaxed by going for a foot and body massage and went to one of the recommended seafood restaurants nearby. YUMMY!! Day Two started bright and early. We met with our tour guide at 8.15am, and started on the 2 hour long bus ride to Poring Hot Springs. Once there , we went on the Canopy Tree top walk. We climbed up the hill, surrounded by many really tall trees and had to go across suspension bridges hanging between these trees! Only 6 people could go on it at any one time and the bridges were swinging from side to side, so it’s a good thing I’m not afraid of heights! After that, we went to the hot springs (finally!) and soaked our feet in the deliciously hot water. Ahhhh… We then set off searching for food, and stopped by a Lodge partway up the mountain for lunch, choosing a window seat for the great view! It was really a memorable experience sitting in the restaurant overlooking the mountain view, breathing in the fresh air (natural air-con) and tucking into delicious hot, steaming food. Thereafter we had a quick stop at the Kinabalu Park Headquarters before embarking on our long bus ride back to the hotel. Back at the hotel, we dumped our stuff in the room and headed down to the beautiful beach – clean fine sand, with crystal clear waters. We got comfortable on the beach lounge chairs, feeling the warm sun on our bodies AND the cool sea breeze, which made it super comfortable, watching the sun set over the neighbouring islands. It was a great way to end our holiday, and our only regret is that it was too short! Thanks Class95 and Silk Air for this enjoyable trip and HAPPY 20th BIRTHDAY to CLASS 95! |
