It was built in the 9th century by the Cailendra King and was once the greatest Buddhist monument in the world. It rises seven terraces each smaller than the one below, standing majestic and serene on a hill overlooking green fields and distance hills. Will also pass several other important temples such as Mendut Temple and Pawon Temple. • Next, journey to Ketet Pass for a bird's eye view of Merapi Volcano and Merapi Museum, passing by Sleman Village where you can make road side stops for famous local fruits like Salak (snake skin fruit). • Proceed to Yogya's famous shopping streets Malioboro Road and Bringharjo for a wide array of handicraft such as batik, wooden sculptures, souvenirs and local delicacies (bakpia).
