My Experience...

DAY 1 (06 May 10)

Woke up at 5am but was greeted with a feeling of excitement as I knew I was hours away from my trip to Phnom Penh, formerly known as The Pearl of the East or Paris of the East. The entire flight Experience via SilkAir was fantastic and perfect; from boarding to take off, from meal time to landing, the entire crew did a great job! We checked into our accommodation, Hotel Cambodiana, a luxurious and modern hotel situated on the banks of Mekong River. Me & my friend decided to just chill by taking a walk along the Sisowath Quay, a boulevard sidewalk along the river and stopped for iced lime juice and lunch at one of the many cafe restaurants there. Next, we visited the Central Market and did some shopping, followed by dinner and it was back to our hotel to rest for the night.

DAY 2 (07 May 10)

Today we had an 'Amazing Race' day as we took a tour around the city, driven around by our personal driver, Mr Ly and accompanied by our knowledgeable & well-spoken tour-guide, Sophorn aka SP. Right after breakfast at the hotel, we left in our mini-bus to visit the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda; majestic structures on the grounds of the King's residence. Next, we headed to the National Museum, followed by the Wat Phnom Temple and then to the notorious Tuol Sleng Museum aka Genocide Museum. We took a break for lunch then headed back to the hotel to rest for 2 hours before going out again to the Russian Market which was a lively outdoor market where we did a bit of shopping. Then it was to The Killing Fields, which was situated 15km away from Phnom Penh. This is a historical site during the Khmer Rogue and Pol Pot's days and it's definitely worth a visit. From all the visiting & walking today, we ended the day with a sumptuous steamboat dinner!

DAY 3 (08 May 10)

Time flies and it's the day of departure, we woke up early and decided to pay a visit to the Nagaworld's casino. Decided to try my luck at the slot-machine (the only game I know how to play) and guess what? My original investment of US$10 won me US$110! After this, we went for lunch at another restaurant along Sisowath Quay and finished off with last minute shopping for souvenirs and a relaxing foot-massage, to soothe out those tired legs & feet after 3 days of exhilarating exploring of this charming city, Phnom Penh! This city has lots to offer and is definitely worth a visit! This trip to Phnom Penh has indeed been an enriching and memorable one! Kudos to Class 95 & SilkAir for making all this possible (Standing ovation)!
Here's wishing Class 95 Happy 20th Birthday!
You are and will always be my favourite radio station with the best mix of music!!
