Located close to Bali, Lombok has been called “Indonesia’s best-kept secret” for good reason.

• Its waters are home to more than 3,500 species of fish as well as blue coral. Snorkel and spot thousands of colourful fishes in the clear waters of Gili Nanggu or swim with the turtles at Gili Islands off Lombok’s north-west coast.


• Stay in one of the world-class resorts along Senggigi Beach and bask in the sun on its private silver beaches. You can opt for a sightseeing tour or rent a car to get around and enjoy the sights and sounds.


• Trekkers have long heeded the call of Mount Rinjani, which rewards those who undertake the three-day trek with the sight of the turquoise waters of its crater lake and a panoramic ocean view. For casual trekkers, take a half-day trek to marvel at the waterfalls in Rinjani’s surrounding Senaru village. The Sendang Gila waterfall is an easy 20-minute walk down a graded trail. For the more adventurous, Senaru’s “second waterfall” Tiu Kelep is another hour’s walk upriver from Sendang Gila.
