My Experience...

Hello my darling Class 95 listeners, thanks for visiting our website! I am honored to be the first Jock to tell you about my SilkAir and Surabaya experience.

First up SilkAir! What can I say, it was perfect! Perfect when we flew up, and perfect when we flew back! The captains and first officers were very much in control and very warm and friendly. Thank you Captain Alessandro for coming out and shaking our hands and just being so personable, Bernard and Jaslyn our winners were pleasantly surprised! Also, hello to the charming SilkAir stewardesses whom I had a lot of fun with... taking photos and chatting only la! You gals are so elegant, so graceful, so good at what you do! Keep up the great work, I look forward to buying you all a round or two of drinks!
Overall I have to say, I've not experienced a more enjoyable flight. Cheers!

On our arrival in Surabaya, we were immediately greeted by our tour guide Yun who was just the sweetest girl, and because we had a rather tight itinerary, we got into the waiting tour van and set out to visit the Submarine museum, House of Sampoerna, Cubanronho waterfall, grab a traditional Surabayan lunch and proceed to Mount Pernanjakan, that's where spent the night – at Bromo cottage!

We set out real early the next day, 4am! Hopped onto a jeep and made our way down the mountain to the vantage point where thousands gather at to catch the sunrise. And what a sunrise! So so very beautiful! We could also see in the distance Mount Bromo, Indonesia's most popular Volcano, check out the pictures I'll be posting up k? This active volcano last erupted in 2007, somehow the possibility of it erupting again made it more appealing to me, ok I'm a little sick like that!

Fast forward to Mount Bromo! Took a horse ride to the steps of Bromo then climbed up an almost vertical flight of steps – 248 to be exact! Not easy judging by the number of people who were stopping and gasping for air. As for me, not too bad, climbed straight up, at the top I was panting a little, the way I do when passion...err ok nevermind. Anyway, it was just spectacular! Still can't believe I was on the edge of an active volcano looking right into it! Priceless! We then made our way to the Safari park where we had lions come right up to our vehicle, you must experience this! Once again check out my pictures!

The apple garden was next, sweet and juicy it left me asking the question, why can't we grow apples in Singapore? The next 2 days were spent shopping and eating!!! A well deserved leisurely time after a rather adventurous couple of days travelling up, down and around the mountains!

If you like road trips, the adventurous sort and have always dreamed of checking out Mount Bromo in Surabaya, this one's for you baby!!!

Love,
Glenn Ong
