My Experience...

Hi everyone!

Thanks so much for taking the time to come to my page to read about my amazing trip to Kunming China!

The 4D3N trip was a wonderful one mostly because of my lovely travel companions, Janice and her husband Mus! I met them on our flight SilkAir MI912 – Business Class. The two were in absolute high spirits!

Captain Suresh said hello to us on the plane’s intercom and then physically came out to say hi to us! What a friendly chap! After a full breakfast, and about 4 hours later, we arrived in rainy but beautiful Kunming at 14 degrees!

We checked into the 5 star Grand Park Kunming, which is smack in the middle of the city, and was greeted by the hotel’s GM Desmond, who showed us 5 star hospitality!

Then we hopped into a cab, headed to bu xing jie or Walking Street and tried amazing Beef noodles! I also bought 3 matching bling bags! One for me, one for my mum and other for Glenn’s mum!

After we headed back to the hotel, Janice and Mus had some more energy to check out the streets around our hotel! I just holed up in my room, had a hot shower (a good reprieve to the cold weather) and ordered room service! It’s 24 hours too, with a “Singapore Signature Specialities” section to boot!

Day 2 was tour day! We took a 2 hour drive to Jiu Xiang Scenic Area! Then took in a traditional Yunnan meal! First stop, a little paddle boat ride through the beautiful scenic rocks! Then off to the caves we go! There are 99 caves and only 4 are open to the public! They take you 150m deep down! And there are 700 steps throughout the walk through these caves! Some serious cardio workout!

We also paid 50 yuan for a ‘sedan’ ride up the last 300 steepest steps out of the caves! I paid the guys double because I felt so bad for them, plus its serious hard work!

Then off to a chairlift we go – back to the starting point and a 2 hour journey back to the hotel!

After a little rest, we walked to a nearby noodle joint frequented by mostly locals! Here’s where we tried Kunming’s famous Over The Bridge rice noodles! It was delicious and the portion was huge!

Then we did a little shopping at the nearby ‘Money Street’! As the name suggests, that’s also the same place where I spent the most ‘ker-ching’! I bought a cute little denim skirt and some cute football shaped Panda bears, one for Glenn and the other for dad! Then off to Salvatore’s for a quick coffee break before its back to the hotel!

Day 3 was free and easy! I decided to order breakfast in! Today was warmer then usual and I felt like heading outdoors! I ventured out to the Walmart and bought lotsa Pu-er green tea! Then walked the streets of Kunming on my own! In the evening, I met up with the two for dinner and treated them to a lovely meal! We later went for more shopping and capped the night off with drinks at the hotel’s revolving bar on the top floor! Well, only Janice had a beer! I had camomile tea and her hubby Mus had a chocolate milkshake! ☺

Day four was time to go home! We had such a lovely time with our friendly and helpful tour guides! We exchanged namecards, took plenty of photos and promised to look them up if we ever visited Kunming again!

And then it was back to Singapore on SilkAir flight MI913, with amazing standards of service yet again!

Thank you so much SilkAir for a wonderful experience!

Lotsa Love,
Jean ☺
